Angamaly diaries Review

Angamaly diaries is a malayalam film directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery and written by Chemban Vinod Jose. They present 86 new faces to the malayalam film industry. Film was produced by Vijay Babu, under his sole Production Friday Film House. Film tells the story of local people and their lifestyle around Angamaly in Ernakulam.

Film director Lijo Jose Pellissery and Screen play writer Chemban Vinod Jose rolls this diary notes around a dusty town with deafening sound of pork meat and stains of human blood. Film contains real life characters that we can see at a town which contain butchers. It is a gangster drama revolving around the lives of countrymen and the mood is set up on for that. The film from beginning to the end shows screams and blood of pork at butcher shop. Angamaly city is famous for the pork meat. Film presents the story of Vincent peppe (Antony Varghese) and his friends roaming in Angamaly called as Palliyangadi gangs. Peppe is a graduation dropout guy who dreams of marrying his girlfriend and settling in Germany. Along with his team mates Bheeman (Vineeth Vishwam), Pork Varkey (Githin), Kanakuna Marty (Ananthu) and Parippu Marty (Sreekanth Dasan), Peppe gets trapped in a crime case and finds himself his future will be un hopefull and frighfully break.

On the first scene of the intro, Pepe dressed up like Jesus smoking cigarettes with his friends at a bar, the scene seems extremely humerous. After single single introduction to the characters, film shows Pepe describes about his past life. At the very young age itself he fascinates the local goon of Angamaly Babuji. So he decides to make a crew of his own friends for himself. We feel very much resemblance of the movie Kammattipadom after seeing their teamwork. But the film follows a different path other than Kammattipadom. They gets involved in small crimes there and the movie gets a dramatic turn when his team enters the pork business. But before that Rajan and Ravi two other goons kills Babuji their idol so the story turns revengeful.

The fright scenes in Angamaly diaries accompanies with the smashing of Pork head at the butcher shop and its flesh chops into pieces.  Punctuated by short, sudden bursts of violence, this is a grimy tale that is driven forward by sheer ruthlessness and greed. Chemban Vinod Jose gives simple surprises in the movie, with his pure cinematography about the whole Angamaly Town. Also adding up it with some comedic timing even at the serious scenes. Prashant Pillai has given music and background score for the movie, even thrills the viewers while sharpening the butcher knife before slaughter.

The cast of new faces that director presents to the malayalam film industry without any fear. Audition for the film started in different parts of Kerala, mainly at Kochi. The complete caste of the movie is competently matches with the real characters in the film. Also the villains in the movie Appani Ravi(Sarath Kumar) and U clamp Rajan(Tito Wilson) with their fierceful acting made their characters to perfection. Cinematographer Girish Giridharan brings out the real pictographic and hidden views inside the city with his stellar.

The humour that Lijo extracts from a brutual scene that death seems really funny. He has done extreme hardwork when all the attempts to visualize with a single pen failed, clearly connects all the effective scene in an order. The thing to be remembered is that not a single character in this movie steps forward even if it is the story of Peppe. Everyone looks equal strands and equal dialogue delivery.
